Patton Park was incorporated on September 29th, 1930.
In the mid 1930's, as Martinsville and Morgan county struggled along with the rest of the country to pull it's self out of "The Great Depression," one of our own town's leading businessman, Wm. J Patton whose family owned the Old Hickory Furniture Co. made a gift to the local Boy Scouts of America, that would have a profound beneficial impact on thousands of people in Central Indiana.
Bald eagles are protected in and around Patton Lake in Martinsville, Indiana, under state and federal laws, including the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. While no longer on the endangered species list, they are still protected. The DNR actively monitors nests and encourages reporting of new nests while maintaining a safe distance from nesting birds.
